The REALITY defines the employee’s current performance level for any skill, competency or behavior. It also encompasses any impact the performance gap has on a function, department, team, customer, or project. Describing the severity, duration, etc. of the current situation dimensions the opportunity to be gained by attaining the goal and builds a compelling story of the need to change. The REALITY is a measure of the actual “on the ground” situation.
